Base64 Encoder / Decoder

Encode text and raw files into Base64 string formats, or decode string payloads back into readable text or downloadable files.

How Base64 Encoding Works

Base64 translates raw binary data (such as files, images, or special character arrays) into a safe ASCII string representation consisting of only 64 characters: A-Z, a-z, 0-9, +, /, and the '=' padding symbol.

Our tool operates in two modes: text mode for encoding/decoding messages, and file mode. Using the file mode, you can drop any file (like an image, config sheet, or font asset) to retrieve its raw Base64 data URI string or feed an encoded payload to retrieve the original file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I encode images or PDF documents to Base64?

Yes. Switch the tool to 'File Mode' to upload files (up to 10MB). It will instantly convert them to a Base64 data URI format, which you can copy or save.

What is Base64 encoding used for?

Base64 is a binary-to-text encoding scheme. It is widely used to embed images directly in CSS/HTML documents, encode email attachments, or safely transmit binary data over text-only protocols.

Is my uploaded file stored on the server?

No. All file conversions happen entirely in-memory using the browser's HTML5 FileReader. Your files never touch our servers.
